The National Bank building
The National Bank building was constructed in 1932 and is a characteristic architectural example of modern public buildings erected after the liberation of Preveza (1912). The upper part of the balcony arcade is decorated with colorful Isnik-style ceramic tiles: green leaves and blue and red flowers, with paradise birds scattered among them.
The Venetian Clock Tower
The Clock Tower at the Metropolitan Church of Preveza, Saint Charalambos,
is a characteristic example of Venetian architecture and was built with the support of the citizens of Preveza. It was completed in 1792.
It is perhaps the oldest monument in the city and is the most famous meeting point for its residents.
SEITAN PAZAR
The alley in the heart of the city has its own history dating back to the Ottoman era, which is captured on a marble plaque directly across from the historic barbershop that has been there since 1920!
In the depths of "Seitan Pazari," ouzo and meze are a must. "Seitan Pazari!" once exclaimed a Turkish commander, passing through the alleys of the old town for inspection. The merchants had soaped the cobblestones, causing the horse to slip. As he fell, he shouted, "The Devil's Market!"
The Monument of the Unknown Sailor
On October 24, 1945, during the clearance of a minefield at the entrance of the Port of Preveza, the minesweeper ship "Pineios" struck a mine. It sank within minutes, taking 19 people, including the captain, to a watery grave. The monument built to honor the sailors of the "Pineios" is located at the point in the city where the Ambracian Gulf meets the Ionian Sea, approximately 1 km from the city's coastal promenade.
"WHITE NIGHT"
The White Night in Preveza takes place every year at the end of August.
Stores remain open until the early morning hours, and hundreds of visitors have the opportunity to purchase goods from the shops in the historic center at very low prices.
At the same time, various events are held in every corner of the city, providing a different and welcoming atmosphere.
Abali at Kiani Akti
A tradition dating back to the Venetian era is passed down from the elders to the young every afternoon in the olive grove of Saint George, at Kiani Akti, one of the largest beaches in Preveza. This is the well-known Abali. Players divided into two teams try to hit a wooden target by throwing their steel balls. It’s a gathering for practice, banter, teasing, and the invention of new throwing techniques by the enthusiastic (and skilled!) locals.
Statue of Odysseas Androutsos (Androutsos Square)
The monument was created to house the remains of Odysseas Androutsos, which were transferred with a special ceremony from the place of his death and are located directly beneath the monument.
This monument stands in a prominent location in the eponymous square in front of the city’s harbor.
Bust of Kostas Karyotakis
In the historic center, the bust of the interwar poet K. Karyotakis is located in one of the most picturesque alleys of the city's historic center. The small square where the monument is placed is very close to the house where Karyotakis lived and is called Dardanelia Square.
