In this trilogy of articles, we explore the entire coastline of the prefecture—starting from Kyani Akti to Kastrosykia.
Just a few minutes from the center of Preveza, Kyani Akti is the locals’ go-to “everyday beach.” Surrounded by eucalyptus trees, it features fine sand and shallow waters. Ideal for families, shoreline walks, and a quick swim without having to travel far.
A natural cove next to Pantokratoras, with sand, pebbles, and crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by rocks that shield it from strong waves, it’s perfect for those seeking simplicity and tranquility.
Mythikas Beach lies in front of the seaside village of Mythikas and features crystal-clear waters. Though not heavily organized, it retains its authentic beauty and peaceful character. The landscape is crowned by the distant lighthouse, standing as a quiet point of reference in the Ionian Sea. Mythikas is ideal for those seeking a more grounded setting, relaxed swims away from crowds, and the raw charm of an unspoiled coastline.
Monolithi Beach is one of the largest continuous sandy beaches in Europe. Stretching for kilometers, it attracts many visitors, especially during the summer months. Along its length, you’ll find organized spots with beach bars, umbrellas, sunbeds, and areas for water sports, while there are also plenty of quieter sections. Just inland from the shoreline lies a coastal pine forest—a unique natural haven that offers cool shade and the feeling of being far from the world, even though you’re only minutes from the city.
Kanali Beach is long, sandy, and open to the Ionian Sea, with waves that often provide a refreshing break on hot summer days. Easily accessible from the main road, it’s popular with both locals and visitors. Along the beach you’ll find beach bars, organized spots with sunbeds, and also free sections for those who prefer a quieter setting. Kanali blends the vibe of summer beach life with a more laid-back, local atmosphere, as the coastal road is lined with tavernas, cafés, and small hospitality businesses.
Kastrosykia Beach stretches wide and sandy, with easy access and a backdrop of the endless Ionian Sea. It’s ideal for families and groups of friends. On windy days, the landscape fills with colorful kites as kitesurfers take advantage of the area’s favorable winds. Along the coastal road, you’ll find tavernas, cafés, and beach bars that keep the area lively from morning until late at night, while the beach also offers quiet spots for more relaxed swims.
