Unknown archival accounts about the wooden iconostasis of Saint Charalambos will be published in an article by the head of the General State Archives of Preveza, Spyros Sklavenitis.
The article will be published in the proceedings of the 7th Scientific Symposium on Modern Greek Ecclesiastical Art, which took place in March 2023. Permission was granted by the archaeology department to use photographs that depict the iconostasis before the restoration work.
The wooden iconostasis of the church of the Patron Saint of Preveza is the work of Epirote woodcarvers and was constructed in 1827.
In the fall of 1836, the iconostasis was "gilded," meaning sections were painted with icons and gold leaf was applied to various parts.
