Sarakiniko is one of the most well-known and beloved beaches in the Parga region—and for good reason. It’s located about 12 kilometers from Parga, just past the village of Agia, and takes around 20 minutes to reach by car, along a route that rewards you with lush, green scenery. If you have a boat, you can also access the beach from the sea, a popular choice among visitors—especially during the summer months.
The shore is sheltered, nestled in a closed bay, and covered with fine, golden sand that invites you to walk barefoot. The waters are crystal clear, turquoise-green, and shallow near the coast, gradually deepening—making them ideal for all ages. The overall feel of the landscape is exotic.
Sarakiniko is organized, with umbrellas and sunbeds in various spots, and at least two beach bars offering coffee, snacks, and refreshing cocktails. There are restrooms and showers, and during peak season, a lifeguard is also on duty. For adventure lovers, water sports such as canoeing, SUP, and pedal boats are available.
For accommodation, the wider area offers a few rental rooms and small guesthouses, usually family-run. However, many visitors choose to stay in Parga and take day trips to Sarakiniko, as the route is both short and scenic.
Dining options are limited right on the beach, but in the surrounding villages—such as Anthousa—you’ll find excellent tavernas serving local dishes, fresh fish, and traditional flavors well worth trying.
As for sights, the Castle of Anthousa is very close by and offers stunning views of the surrounding area and coastline. You can visit the castle by car or even take the small tourist train that departs from Parga.
Sarakiniko is a beach that has it all: natural beauty, good organization, crystal-clear waters, and easy access—a destination that makes you want to return again and again.
