Saint Andrew's Castle (Its Kale) is located to the north of the town of Preveza, next to the sea. It was built by the Ottomans in the early 17th century immediately after the demolition of the Bouka Castle, as its absence made controlling the straits difficult. The Ottomans chose this area because of its natural elevation, which still exists today. In October 1980, a ministerial decision declared the castle a protected monument, and a 2002 law designated the country's castles as historical monuments. In front of the castle begins the main coastal road of Preveza, lined with some buildings of remarkable architectural beauty.
